Participant Waiver & Release

In consideration for being allowed to participate in the Battle of the Buildings event (“Event”), I acknowledge, understand, and agree to the following:

1. Voluntary Participation

I voluntarily choose to participate in the Event and understand that participation may involve physical activity, athletic competitions, outdoor activities, and other activities that carry inherent risks of injury, illness, property damage, disability, or death.

2. Assumption of Risk

I knowingly and freely assume all risks, both known and unknown, associated with participation in the Event, including but not limited to:

Physical injury
Falls or collisions
Weather-related conditions
Equipment-related incidents
Dehydration or exhaustion
Actions or negligence of other participants or spectators
Any other risks associated with athletic or recreational activities

I understand that these risks may arise from my own actions, the actions of others, or conditions related to the Event venue or equipment.

3. Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Battle of the Buildings, its organizers, event staff, volunteers, sponsors, affiliated organizations, venue owners, officers, directors, contractors, agents, and representatives (“Released Parties”) from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, damages, losses, costs, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including claims arising from ordinary negligence.

4. Medical Treatment Authorization

I authorize Event organizers and emergency personnel to obtain or provide medical treatment deemed necessary in the event of injury, illness, or emergency during the Event. I understand that I am solely responsible for any medical costs incurred.

5. Physical Condition

I certify that I am physically capable of participating in the Event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional.

6. Rules and Conduct

I agree to follow all Event rules, instructions, safety guidelines, and directions provided by Event staff or volunteers. I understand that failure to comply may result in removal from the Event without refund.

7. Photo & Media Release

I grant permission to Battle of the Buildings and its authorized representatives to photograph, record, and use my name, likeness, image, voice, and participation in promotional materials, social media, websites, advertising, and future event marketing without compensation.

8. Personal Property

I understand that Battle of the Buildings and the Released Parties are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.

9. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from my participation in the Event or my violation of Event rules.

10. Severability

If any portion of this Waiver & Release is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

11. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Texas.

Acknowledgment & Signature

I have read this waiver & release of liability, fully understand its terms, and understand that I am giving up certain legal rights by signing it. I sign this agreement freely and voluntarily.

Electronic acknowledgement is captured on the registration form via a required checkbox and a typed full legal name signature. The signature timestamp and waiver version are stored with the registration record.

Emergency contact name, relationship, and phone number are collected on the registration form.

Optional Parent / Guardian Consent (If Participant is Under 18)

I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor participant listed above. I consent to the minor’s participation in the Event and agree to the terms of this Waiver & Release on behalf of the minor.
